About Wally:

Wally grew up in Elmira, ON and eventually made the local Junior B Elmira Sugar Kings, where they went on to win the Sutherland Cup. Moving on to Western Michigan University, where he would meet his wife Lisa, who was a D1 Soccer player in Western Michigan where they won the MAC championship.

After a successful collegiate career, Wally signed a 1-year AHL deal with the Columbus Blue Jackets / Syracuse Crunch / Dayton Bombers organisation.  The ECHL Dayton Bombers would play in the finals that season, losing to the Idaho Steelheads. After one North American season, Wally headed for the Landshut Cannibals in the DEL2 where they would lose in the finals to the Kassel Huskies.

For the next 4 seasons Wally played for the Bietigheim Steelers becoming a Deutche Meister in 2009 beating Munich in the finals.  Next stop was Heilbronn, Germany, where Colby Walton was born on December 5th, 2012.  After 6 seasons in Germany the Walton’s then move on to Sonderjyske in Vojens, Denmark, where the team defeated the Herning Blue Foxes in game 7 to win the Danish Championship.

After a successful season in Denmark the Walton’s then moved on to Cardiff to be a part of the Cardiff Devils and during his time with Cardiff Wally completed his MBA in Project Management. That season the Devils won the Challenge Cup, but the biggest moment was February 11, 2015, when Zoe Walton was born in Cardiff.

The next season the Walton’s signed with Cardiff again, but a knee injury ended Wally’s hockey career in November of that year. Wally ER wasn't done with Cardiff, five years later on November 19th, 2019 the Cardiff Devils brought Lisa and Wally back over for a “Wally Night” and that was the beginning of getting back into the game and the birth of the podcast!
